  • Deep Tissue / Swedish Massage: A classic European massage involving the use of oils along with familiar long strokes, kneading, and other specializing techniques which are aimed at storing the balance and enhancing the function of the muscular, lymphatic, and circulatory systems. The effects of European massage when applied in the appropriate situation are:

    • Increased blood and lymph circulation: Several massage strokes increase the movement of blood and lymph. This may help clear interstitial spaces of metabolic waste products and increase the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the tissue.

    • Muscle relaxation: Massage therapy may relieve muscle spasm and cramps.

    • Adhesion removal: An adhesion exists when two tissues are joined by scar tissue following an injury or disease. Massage therapy may be effective in breaking down such adhesions.

    • Fibrosis alleviation: Fibrosis is formation of excessive or abnormal scar tissue after injury. Massage therapy may relieve this condition.

    • Pain Relief: Massage therapy may relieve pain, especially if it is caused by muscle spasm.

    • Respiratory drainage: Tapotement may help drain the bronchial tubes of mucus build-up.

    • Stress reduction: Many forms of massage therapy may promote general relaxation and reduction of physical, emotional, and mental stress. Given the prevalence of stress-related disorders, this may be one of it's most important benefits.

  • Medical Massage: The therapeutic treatment of physiological ailments resulting from either injury, accident, or disease process.

  • Sports Massage: This therapeutic massage conditions and restores the muscles by clearing the trigger points and metabolic wastes which are the by-products of exercise and muscle fatigue. For the competitor, pre and post massage enhances athletic performance and hastens recovery time. It is also an effective treatment in the management of common sports injuries: tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, wrist, knee, and ankle problems.

  • Oriental Massage: Ancient healing techniques based on the traditional Chinese Medical System of Acupuncture, which use hand and finger pressure instead of needles on specific acupuncture points and along the merridians (channels of energy pathways) which help create the balance and free flow of one's own internal life force (chi).

  • Reflexology: This ancient healing art is based on the belief that the body as a whole is reflected in the soles of the feet, the palms of the hands, and in the ears. Disturbances in the organs, glands, or any body parts or systems will reflect as tender spots in these reflex zones. Reflexology massage will help to rejuvenate, improve circulation, stimulate healing, and re-energize your body and mind.

  • Pregnancy Massage: The pregnant woman and her unborn child can benefit greatly from these soothing treatments which help to alleviate the stress and strains associated with the childbearing process.

  • Infant Massage: A nurturing touch helps create a healthy, loving bond between infant and parent and/or care-giver. Infant massage helps to strengthen and regulate the baby's primary systems (i.e. respiratory, circulatory, nervous, musculature, and gastrointestinal) and helps in dealing with special needs such as colic, pre-maturity, intestinal difficulties (i.e. excessive gas, constipation, etc.) and helps baby to sleep better.

"I can't remember who referred me to Nicole about 14 years ago, but I haven't been to anyone else anywhere in the world (about 10 countries since). There isn't anyone in this position who knows and understand the body as well as Nicole. The best thing about her is that her hands land exactly precision perfect on where the problem is even if you didn't tell her. Looking forward to the next 14 years!"

- Ariel, Great Neck, NY

"I have been receiving wondrous massages from Nicole Nahmias for the last seven years and only wish that I had found her sooner! Out of many massage therpists that I have experienced, some from the top spas in the country, by far she is the most talented and effective. Nicole does everything to make every massage all about you, from the moment she greets you with her warm personality, to creating a healing environment with soothing music, treatment oils, and heated massage table until you walk out the door, or should I say walk on air out the door. She knows exactly how to treat all kinds of chronic ergonomic issues, 'weekend warrior' aches and pains, or just to address overall body fatigue. Massage is so much a part of a healthy life regimen and with Nicole, it is also a wonderful pleasure. I have bought gift certificates for friends and they all agree."

- Suzanne, Kings Point, NY

"Nicole is not just good, but the absolute best massage therapist you will find anywhere. She has extremely sensitive, strong hands with the ability to adjust the treatment to suit the client's condition. Her knowledge of the muscular/skeletal system is excellent which enables Nicole to accurately identify the areas that are in need of massage. I have received massage therapy literally around the world. Therefore, I am in a position to compare Nicole's performance in relation to many high quality and well-trained massage therapists in world-class facilities. You can't go wrong with being her patient and I unqualifiedly recommend her. In addition, you get as a bonus a truly wonderful human being who is thoughtful, sensitive, and a great listener."

- Herb, Manhasset, NY

I highly recommend her for not only comfort massage but also if you have something that hurts and are looking for relief."

"When you step inside Nicole's massage room, you are instantly transformed into a "mini vacation." Nicole creates an atmosphere where you can relax and know you are getting an outstanding massage experience from start to finish. I have traveled to many high end resorts and the massages there do not come close to Nicole's abilities. Nicole quickly becomes aquainted with your body and needs. For me, a massage with Nicole is not a luxury reserved for only vacations, rather a monthly necessity in keeping my body as healthy as it can be. There is no better massage therapist around."
- Sheri, Port Washington, NY

The space is quiet and calming. Nicole is laid back and welcoming. Her capable hands soothe away the aches and tension. I leave feeling as if I'm floating on air. Give yourself the gift of an hour with Nicole or a gift certificate to a friend or family member. I have and they can't stop thanking me."

"Going to Nicole twice a month for massage treatment has helped me in so many ways. I'm just coming off a very rough couple of years and holding on to a lot of stress. Adding Nicole to my planner has eased the stress and helped relieve a lot of the aches and pains of all the wear and tear on my body. A treatment with Nicole helps the mind and the body... I highly recommend adding a treatment with Nicole to anyone's busy schedule... It really does make a difference!!!!!!"

"I have been a ballet dancer and ballroom instructor for most of my life, so receiving massages has come with the package. Now that I am a court reporter, sitting all day, I have more pain than ever.Having my massage with Nicole Nahmias is not only a-feel-good-massage, she really gets deep into the places that only requires one treatment. All the pain is gone! It's so obvious from her treatments the years of experience she has.  I wouldn't go anywhere else, nor waste my time and money anywhere else. I have experienced many other massage therapists. No one can do the job like she can."

"Nicole has an excellent knowledge of the human anatomy and is able to pinpoint exactly what is causing your aches or pains. She has a gentle, but powerful touch to help ease them away with her smooth and nurturing movements. You can feel the negativity leave your body when she places her healing hands on your skin. Not only is she an exceptional massage therapist but she is also a remarkable person. She will never treat you as 'just another client' or "patient X' in a long work day. She has the gift of being personable and still professional, showing she's able to laugh with you and relieve your mental stress as well as professionally knead your muscles and alleviate stress in an entirely different way. You will never know if you are her first client of the day, or her last, because she puts equally as much energy and spirit into each and every massage."

- Olivia, Roslyn, NY

"I tend to be a perfectionist in my own profession, which requires a strong focus on diagnosis and meeting a wide range of individual needs with care and concern. Needless to say, I strive to find the same in professionals from whom I seek care. Nicole has met and exceeded my expectations as a therapist who is equally skilled at providing therapy for injury-related pain as well as creating a highly relaxing and stress reducing experience. Her warmth, bright smile and consistent level of energy and support are invaluable to me."

Benefits of Masssage

Massage is beneficial on so many levels, Mind, Body & Spirit.   Listen with love to your body's messages.

Our biography becomes our biology.  Every experience, positive and negative, goes to a cellular level in the body.   The body can hold on to traumas both physical and emotional. Stress is very real and it can lead to disorders and disease. We live in very stressful times and massage therapy is the antidote to stress. The body, like everything else in life, is a mirror of our inner thoughts and beliefs.  The body is always talking to us, if we only take the time to listen.  Every cell within your body responds to every single thought you think and every word you speak. Continuous modes of thinking and speaking produce body behaviors and postures and eases or dis-eases.  I believe 50% of your health is attitude.  New thought patterns or affirmations can be used to create health.

Don't wait for a special occasion to "treat" yourself to a massage. Massage is not a luxury - it's a necessity!

Sometimes it's not easy to relax. Schedule a massage and unplug from your stress. We can help you relax, breathe and reconnect with your mind, body and spirit.  Simple exercises will help you connect with your breath and we offer guided meditation to help you "mentally get on the massage table."

Increase Flexibility / Active Isolated Stretch

Stretching is good!

Muscles naturally have the tendency to contract and shorten.  We need to be flexible with elongated and sinuous muscles.

Active Isolated Stretch (AIS) techniques during your massage treatment can assist in achieving longer muscles that help the body move freely.

Muscles receptors in the muscle send messages to the brain.  The brain controls the body and when the brain detects a muscle being overstretched, it triggers a protective stretch reflex.  Other muscles  groups are called upon to assist the overstretched muscle.

Performing an AIS of no longer than 2 seconds confuses the brain and allows the target muscle to optimally lengthen without triggering the protective stretch reflex.  These stretches provide maximum benefit and can be accomplished without opposing tension.

Reciprocal inhibition states that the muscle on one side of a joint must relax in order for the opposing muscle to contract.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy involves more than fragrance.  Plant essential oils have therapeutic powers in addition to beneficial fragrance and all are antiseptic.  Other oils have the power to comfort.

Aromatherapy can alter brain waves and behavior.

Aromatherapy can reduce the perception of stress, increase contentment, and decrease levels of cortisol, the "stress hormone."

Lavender aromatherapy has indeed been shown to reduce crying in infants and promote sleep in infants and adults.

Different aromatherapy scents bring different effects in people and studies showed that aromatherapy massage can have some beneficial effects on anxiety and depression.

Massage with aromatherapy provides stronger and more continuous relief from fatigue -- especially mental fatigue.
